Pesticide Update Meeting

Remarks: Area producers are invited to an afternoon workshop focused on

2008 pesticides. The workshop will be held in the Richland County

Library Basement from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Specific topics covered

will include the new pesticides, new formulations, identification of crop

injury, and crop growth stages.



Information on the latest formulations of soil and foliar applied

herbicides, fungicides and insecticides will be presented as they

relate to their use in many different cropping systems and crop

rotations. Application rates and techniques will be discussed with the

corresponding costs. Mixed applications of herbicides and fungicides

will also be addressed. Identification of herbicide injury in several

crops will be explained using pictures and specific characteristics.



Also presented during the workshop will be proper growth stage

identification for several cereal and broadleaf crops grown in the

area. This is important to understand when applying chemicals in

order to prevent crop damage.
