| | Sustainable Landscape - definition and benefits for Urban program. |
| |
| | Ex. of Sustainable Landscapes and how to create one that is |
| | efficient for pest control and water use. |
| | |
| | What species work best in various locations of the Bitterroot Valley. |
| | |
| | Program_Remarks: Using native species can be more desirable when |
| | controlling pest and can enhance an intergrated approach in pest |
| | management. With the influx of small acerage parcels in Ravalli |
| | County, the use of native and hardy introduction species in a |
| | landscaping situation can affect how pesticides are used in the home |
| | or pasture environment, decreasing the potential of pesticides found |
| | in water sources in the county. Using a sustainable approach to land |
| | management also encourages a greater competition between |
| | undesirable species, including noxious weeds and desirable species. |
| | Many times the desirable native species are very competitive and can |
| | be very effective in controlling other weeds. |
| | I feel this program is a great Urban IPM seminar. It will be very well |
| | attended. |
