Exam:

1. You spray a swath that is 66 feet wide and 66 feet long. You use 3 gallons from your sprayer to spray this strip. What is your GPA?

2. You have a 200 gallon sprayer that is calibrated at 20 gallons per acre (20 GPA).  How many acres can you spray with a full sprayer?

3.  You have a 200 gallon sprayer that is calibrated at 20 gallons per acre (20 GPA).  How many acres can you spray with 150 gallons?

4.  Your sprayer is calibrated to 20 GPA, you plan to spray a herbicide at a rate of 1 pint per acre.  With a full 200 gallon tank, how many QUARTS of pesticide do you add to the tank?

5. You have a 5-gallon backpack sprayer and you have determined that the sprayers output is 50 GPA. With 3 gallons in the backpack, how many acres can you spray?

6. As a private applicator in Montana you are required to keep records of all restricted use pesticides that you use. You can record as a "spot treatment," any areas that do not exceed 0.10 acres of SPRAYED area.

In other words, if you are treating a 20 acre field but have  sprayed only 0.10 acres of weeds in that field, you can record the whole 20 acres as a "spot treatment." Answer this question.

If your sprayer is calibrated to apply 50 GPA and you want to spot treat an area for noxious weeds, how much of a pesticide mixture will you apply before you need to stop and record it as a spot treatment?

7.  You are spot treating for noxious weeds in a 30 acre pasture. Your sprayer is calibrated to apply 30 GPA and you spray out 6 gallons of a pesticide mixture before you stop and record the area you just sprayed as a "Spot Treatment." You have actually exceeded the acreage that is allowed by law for a spot treatment.  At what point should you have stopped spraying and recorded the spot treatment?

8. You need to fill out your restricted use application record. You just sprayed 300 gallons of a pesticide/water solution in your pasture. Your sprayer is calibrated to 15 GPA. What is the size of the area you just treated?

9.  If a pesticide label stipulates that you should not apply more than 0.2 pounds of active ingredient (a.i.) per season per acre, what is this in ounces of actual product per season per acre if there are 2 pounds of active ingredient (a.i.) per gallon of the pesticide formulation? (Hint! There are 128 ounces per gallon).

10. You need to fill out your restricted use application record. You just sprayed out 350 gallons of a pesticide water mixture in your pasture. Your sprayer is calibrated at 50 GPA. You mixed at a labeled rate of 1 pint per acre. How much undiluted pesticide did you use in that pasture?

Check over your applicator information and exam answers before clicking on the 'Submit' button.
