Submitting Programs
Extension Coordinators
A completed Private Applicator Credit Request Form must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance of the scheduled program. A Private Applicator Credit Request Form can be submitted within days of a program but will be reviewed on a time-available basis and may not receive credits if the program needs to be changed in order to better address pesticide education areas.
NOTE: A training program must be approved for certification or recertification before the program can be advertised as qualifying for private applicator credits. No other formats will be accepted!!
Resource people for approved training can be Extension agents, Extension specialist, Department of Agriculture specialists, MSU Ag Research Station faculty, MSU faculty and industry personnel. Non-Extension Sponsored Meetings can include producer organizational meetings, weed district meetings, etc. Resource people for training can be Extension agents, Extension specialist, Department of Agriculture staff, and personnel from research centers and chemical companies or other approved personnel.
Accredited programs will be assigned a program number by the Montana Pesticide Education & Safety Program. Agents requesting the program will be emailed verification of accreditation.
NOTE: Once the program is accredited all program information can be entered into the program information form of the PERKS database. If you choose to not use PERKS make sure to keep track of all programs and the applicators attending those programs.
If there are recertification courses between October 17th and December 31st of the recertification year, then the local PAT coordinator needs to use the Special Use Permit Form provided by the Montana Department of Agriculture. These forms are handed out at the end of the recertification program. The PAT coordinator circles "yes" under "Recertification Training" in the box in the upper right hand corner. The applicators then fill out the forms and, along with the proper fees, send them directly to the Montana Department of Agriculture. This is of course provided that the applicant has obtained the minimum 6 credits.
It is encouraged to have all programs completed by October 17th of your recertification year.
Non-Extension Coordinators
Non-extension sponsored program agendas must be submitted thirty (30) days in advance of the scheduled program. These program agendas must be routed to the Extension Office of the county where the program will take place. A completed Private Applicator Credit Request Form will be filled out by the extension agent and then submitted to the Montana Pesticide Education & Safety Program for accreditation. If a program appears to be sales-oriented, private credits may not be given.
